No compromise on self respect!!!!!!!Come on Girlies……
It is very easy to say that no one should compromise on their self respect but practically it is quite difficult and some times even impossible. To pur yourself in someone else’s shoes is a tough row to hoe.
The word compromise that I heard since childhood was only to maintain marriage. The society was so conservative that even the dramas used to teach the girls to compromise more in marriage to survive. The word compromise could even take the lives but for girl’s family, it was a must to keep the marriage. To a great surprise, there was no concept of love marriage at that time. All matters used to be arranged except the very few ot rare cases. Love marriage was a sin to commit. I used to hear ladies saying that love marriage leads to divorce only and there is no respect for girls in love marriage.
Growing up in the society, I realized overwhelmingly that why people expect only form girls to do everything to keep their marriage. It was only due to the fact that males were responsible for maintaining the household. What was more surprising even that this culture oriented thing was often associated with religion. I used to think that religion says so people behave since I was too young to understand my religion that time.
As I grew up, I understood more about the psychology of such people of my society. Religion was a useful tool for them to use according to the situation. Even if a man knows nothing about Islam, he goes for another marriage in the name of religion.
Being grown up, I saw many of love marriages. But nothing was changed. Even if people were doing love marriage, the groom and his family expect more from girl than the boy. Bride can’t even complain to her parents as they announce it is your own decision so now handle it till the end . whether arranged or love, girls have to suffer. This is the crux of the story.
In Islam, marriage is even not held if consent of either groom or bride is not taken. But culture ruins the Islamic values and traditions and surprisingly people confuse culture with religion. It ruins lives of people and no one pays attention.
A humble request to all the men of the society instead of anybody to take your responsibility yourself. Do give respect to the woman who has come to your life first before expecting respect 🙌 from her. If there is no respect in the relation and she has to compromise only then women shall decide soon before it is too late for them.
Suffering due to others, losing your identity and respect, is atleast better to suffer keeping your self respect.
